Dlive TV, which operates Dlive’s local channels, has shifted to a full election coverage system from April 6 ahead of the nationwide local elections to be held on June 3, it said on Monday.

Dlive TV revamped its existing Dlive News as “June 3 Local Elections Dlive News”. “June 3 Local Elections Dlive News” consists of segments including an election situation room, a podium for preliminary candidates, preliminary candidate registration status and simultaneous links with candidates from two parties. It will provide in-depth coverage of issues related to races for heads of basic local governments and basic councillors.

The election situation room will provide detailed coverage of local issues at the living-area level and voter reactions, based on reporters’ on-site coverage. In the podium segment, preliminary candidates will appear in person to explain why they are running and their key pledges. The registration status segment, updated in the morning and afternoon, will use visual graphics to allow viewers to check candidate registration status by region at the basic level.

In the simultaneous link segment, which begins airing after final candidate registration closes, Dlive TV will use a multi live broadcast system (MLBS) to connect candidates from two parties at the same time. It will compare their pledges and hear their views on local pending issues.

Dlive TV plans to further strengthen its election broadcasting system later this month after final candidate registration closes, through coverage of talks and debates hosted by the Election Broadcasting Debate Commission and broadcasts of candidates’ speeches. On June 3, election day, it will air a simultaneous live vote count broadcast on Dlive TV ch999 and YouTube. The broadcast plans to cite terrestrial broadcasters’ exit poll results to enhance credibility and fairness.

Dlive TV CEO Hyun-tae Kim (김현태) said the election broadcasting system focused on delivering information that is practically helpful to local voters as quickly and in as much detail as possible. He said it would provide in-depth coverage of the candidates, their main pledges and local pending issues.
