[DigitalToday reporter Oh Sang-yeop] South Korea's KOSPI was up more than 2 percent early on April 6, trading around the 5,480 level. The Kosdaq was also higher by more than 1 percent, rising in tandem.

As of 9:13 a.m., the KOSPI was up 110.96 points, or 2.06 percent, from the previous session at 5,488.26. The index opened at 5,423.35, up 46.05 points, or 0.86 percent, from the previous close.

By investor type, institutions were net buyers of 186.2 billion won, leading the index higher. Individuals and foreigners were net sellers of 177.3 billion won and 10.8 billion won, respectively.

Most of the top stocks by market capitalisation were rising.

Samsung Electronics was up 3.65 percent at 193,000 won, and SK Hynix was up 2.40 percent at 897,000 won.

Hyundai Motor rose 0.74 percent, LG Energy Solution gained 1.88 percent, Hanwha Aerospace added 0.35 percent, Samsung Biologics rose 1.13 percent, SK Square gained 2.69 percent, Doosan Enerbility rose 1.50 percent and Kia gained 2.13 percent.

At the same time, the Kosdaq was up 13.12 points, or 1.23 percent, from the previous session at 1,076.87.

In the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won was at 1,510.90 per dollar, up 0.80 won, or 0.05 percent, from the previous session.
