Missouri is again pushing a bill to build a strategic bitcoin reserve and aims to use cryptocurrency in public finances, Cointelegraph reported on Sunday.

The Missouri House has recently referred the bill to the House Commerce Committee. The measure would allow the state government to hold bitcoin and would also permit taxes and fees to be paid in cryptocurrency. Bitcoin holdings would be maintained for 5 years, after which the state government could sell them or convert them into other assets.

The move by the Missouri House is a renewed attempt after a similar bill was pushed last year but was scrapped at the committee stage. Issues such as limits on transactions with foreign countries and cryptocurrency volatility remain, and controversy is expected during the legislative process, Cointelegraph reported.
