KT's labour union said on March 17 it filed a complaint with investigators against outside director Lee Seung-hoon (이승훈), after allegations of misconduct surfaced, to restore board transparency and normalise corporate governance.

The union said it submitted a complaint to Seoul Jongno Police Station on March 16, alleging obstruction of business and breach of trust, or attempted breach of trust. According to the telecommunications industry, the outside director is suspected of abusing his position to exert undue influence over personnel matters and pressuring the company to invest in a German satellite firm.

The union stressed the reason for the complaint, saying suspicions have been repeatedly raised through media outlets that an outside director who should be an independent watchdog instead intervened in personnel decisions and pressured a specific investment. It said it concluded that a thorough clarification of the facts through an external investigative agency was the only solution.

The union also said the outside director is suspected of using his position from the second half of 2025 to around January 2026 to demand that personnel decision-makers appoint him to the head of corporate planning role or to attempt to improperly intervene in the personnel process. It said it requested a strict investigation into whether that could constitute obstruction of business by force or coercion.

The union also pointed to indications that he strongly demanded or recommended that KT invest in Rivada, a Germany-based satellite communications company, to relevant departments and decision-makers. The union said it should clearly examine whether the outside director violated his duty of care, and whether the process may have created a risk of losses for the company and constituted a breach of trust.

The union said it would consider additional legal action depending on objective materials secured during the investigation. It said it would exercise its rights as a shareholder and use all means until the board is normalised.
