Circle Ventures has invested an undisclosed amount in decentralised trading platform EdgeX, supporting the project’s token launch and integration of USDC and Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), The Block reported on Feb. 10 local time.

EdgeX co-founder Kevin Wang (케빈 왕) said Circle Ventures was the only participant in this funding round.

EdgeX is preparing to launch its token by March 31. Founded in March 2024, EdgeX launched a testnet and V1 in August that year and currently operates a web- and mobile-based decentralised perpetual futures exchange.

Wang said EdgeX allows integrated trading of cryptocurrencies, stocks and commodities, and that it has also introduced a prediction market in partnership with Polymarket.

It also supports perpetual futures trading based on real-world assets such as gold and silver.

Wang said, "EdgeX aims to become the global standard for perpetual futures trading beyond a crypto focus," and added, "We will attract active traders rather than short-term incentive capital, and strengthen education and product design."
