Circle has launched USDCx, a privacy version of the USDC stablecoin, on the privacy-focused blockchain Aleo, Cointelegraph reported on Jan. 27.

USDCx is issued through Circle xReserve and is interoperable with major networks such as Ethereum without a separate third-party bridge. Aleo is a privacy-focused blockchain that uses zero-knowledge proof technology to protect transaction details while enabling on-chain verification.

Circle announced a collaboration with Aleo in December last year and said it would introduce a privacy-enhanced stablecoin targeting banking and corporate customers.

Interest in privacy coins has been rising again in the cryptocurrency market. Citing Grayscale research, Cointelegraph reported that investors are increasingly moving into privacy coins to avoid regulatory and surveillance risks.
