Cointelegraph reported on the 45th (local time) that President Trump strongly criticised banks for not processing a crypto market structure bill shortly after meeting Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong (브라이언 암스트롱).
According to the report, Trump posted on his social media after meeting Armstrong, warning: "Banks are making record profits, but I will not let them block a strong crypto agenda."
The meeting came a month after Armstrong stated his opposition to the crypto market structure bill. He voiced concern that the bill would ban stablecoin rewards and allow banks to block competition. Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott (팀 스콧) then delayed consideration of the bill, and the meeting schedule has not been rescheduled since.
The core of the conflict between the crypto industry and banking associations is the issue of stablecoin rewards. Industry figures, including Armstrong, oppose a ban on rewards. After the bill was delayed, the White House held three meetings with crypto and banking officials.
