Eole Inc., listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) Growth market, has decided to sell all 151.21 bitcoins it holds, blockchain media outlet CoinPost reported on Oct. 31 local time.
Eole decided at a board meeting on Oct. 30 to proactively deploy the bitcoin sale proceeds into investments related to its AI data centre business.
Expected sale proceeds are 1.83 billion yen based on the Oct. 30 market price. That is below the book value of 2.09 billion yen following the market valuation as of Sept. 30, and the company expected a sale loss of about 254 million yen. The loss is expected to be reflected in cost of sales for the third quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027.
Eole cited an expansion of cyber threats as the backdrop to the sale. The company said risks have recently spread across the broader digital supply chain, increasing the importance of 대응. It said it re-evaluated the risks of holding assets and investing in businesses and the potential to create value, and reviewed its capital allocation.
The sale will be conducted through market sales via a crypto asset exchange operator from Oct. 30 to the end of November. It also includes selling in tranches. The funds secured will be allocated first in early December to investment in AI data centres, AI computing power provision and the neo-cloud business.
Eole also adjusted its plan for the use of funds. Among the uses of proceeds from stock acquisition rights disclosed on Sept. 9, 2025, it increased investment related to the AI data centre business to 2.6 billion yen from 2.0 billion yen, and reduced the planned scale of digital asset purchases to 7.89 billion yen from 8.49 billion yen. The step followed a judgment that more funds will be needed as the neo-cloud business becomes more concrete.
The company, however, plans to continue holding Hyperliquid (HYPE), which it began acquiring in July 2026. The structure is to liquidate only bitcoin while maintaining other digital assets. Eole said it would disclose any changes if it reflects other impacts at its second-quarter earnings announcement for the fiscal year ending March 2027 scheduled for Nov. 16.
Among domestic listed companies, cases of liquidating bitcoin secured as part of financial strategy have continued. Game company Enish announced on June 9 that it sold all 8.063 BTC. The sale amount was about 79.27 million yen, and it recorded as a loss about 6.22 million yen, the difference from the valuation of about 85.49 million yen as of the end of March 2026. The company said the purpose was to secure investment resources to 추진 an active treasury business with Solana as its core digital asset.
Konbano, a Japanese nail salon operator, also decided on July 24, 2026 to sell all crypto assets it holds excluding portions for shareholder benefit payouts. It later disclosed on Aug. 13 that it completed on Aug. 10 the sale excluding portions provided as collateral and for shareholder benefit payouts, and the sale loss was tallied at about 298 million yen.
Eole's decision is closer to a change in investment priorities than a simple reduction in assets held. The company made clear it will put funds into AI data centres, computing power supply and the neo-cloud business even if it has to accept losses from disposing of bitcoin. As a result, the next points to watch are when the sale is actually completed, the scale of AI infrastructure investment execution and how the extent of loss reflection will be presented in the November earnings disclosure.
