Hanwha Investment Securities is teaming up with global blockchain infrastructure company Chainlink to build a real-world asset (RWA)-based digital asset platform.
Hanwha Investment Securities said on Thursday it signed a strategic partnership with Chainlink to build a global digital asset platform.
Chainlink, headquartered in the United States, is an infrastructure company that delivers real-time financial data to blockchain systems and connects different blockchain networks.
Through the cooperation, Hanwha Investment Securities will use Chainlink’s data standard technology and its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, known as CCIP, as core infrastructure for the digital asset platform it is building.
Based on that, it plans to build a structure that tokenises real-world assets, issues and distributes them in global markets, and verifies asset values for use as collateral.
It will also create an environment in which assets can be moved through a single connection without building separate linkage systems for each blockchain network.
The two companies will form a working-level consultative body to advance the business in detail.
They will first set up institutional on-chain infrastructure and a custody linkage system that reflect compliance and custody requirements. They also plan to jointly establish standards for valuation and reserve verification to use RWAs as collateral.
They will also cooperate on preparing compliance and technical standards aligned with the institutionalisation of token securities in South Korea.
Hanwha Investment Securities’ plan is to secure a foundation for an RWA business that extends beyond the domestic market and links to overseas blockchain networks through this cooperation.
In-seong Ahn (안인성), vice president of Hanwha Investment Securities’ digital division, said, “Chainlink is a key partner in a new financial market where high-quality assets are tokenised, issued and distributed in global markets and used as collateral.” He added, “Through this cooperation, we will build an RWA market that connects South Korea and overseas.”
