Dunamu, which operates digital asset exchange Upbit, received a presidential citation in recognition of its contributions to national disaster relief and humanitarian activities.

Dunamu said on Oct. 27 it received the government award at the '121st anniversary ceremony of the Korean Red Cross' held on Oct. 26 at Woori Bank's headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul.

The Korean Red Cross selects individuals and organisations each year that have contributed to Red Cross activities at humanitarian sites including domestic and overseas disasters, armed conflict and the climate crisis.

Dunamu donated 3 billion won for recovery from wildfire damage in Samcheok, Gangwon Province in 2022 and 2 billion won to support damage from heavy rains in the central region. In 2023, it provided 500 million won for the Gangneung wildfire and 300 million won for flood damage. It also donated 1 billion won to areas hit by large wildfires in places including Sancheong and Uiseong in 2025.

In September 2025, it provided 1 million bottles of 2-litre bottled water worth about 500 million won to the drought-hit Gangneung area through the Korean Red Cross.

It also carried out donations using digital assets. During the 2023 earthquake in Turkiye, it delivered a total of 14 bitcoin in relief donations together with Upbit users. It also donated bitcoin for domestic flood recovery in 2025.

It also expanded support for disaster medical response. Dunamu used 300 million won from donations for support for wildfire damage in the Yeongnam region in 2025 to produce 5 vehicles for disaster response medical teams (HERU) and donated them to the Korean Red Cross in April.

The vehicles were deployed to 5 Red Cross hospitals nationwide in Seoul, Incheon, Sangju, Tongyeong and Yeongju. They are equipped with emergency medical equipment and are sent to disaster sites when disasters occur.

Dunamu provided a total of 10.5 billion won in 2020 to 2021 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and support recovery from the damage, and donated 1 billion won in 2022 to support food for Ukrainian residents.

Its cumulative social contribution investment, including support for financially vulnerable groups, education for future generations, and support for the environment and local communities, stands at 310.3 billion won as of the first half of 2026.

Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok (오경석) said, "This presidential citation is meaningful in that it is the result of efforts to fulfil social responsibility." He added, "We will continue to work to connect the potential of digital assets and technology to social value."
