[Digital Today reporter Yoonseo Lee] Circle is providing USDC and EURC payment functions to companies that use SAP financial software.
On Oct. 7 (local time), blockchain outlet Cointelegraph reported that Circle is working with Tereina, a financial services company backed by German software company SAP, to integrate its stablecoins into enterprise payment systems.
Once the integration is completed, companies that use SAP financial software will be able to send and receive USDC and EURC within existing applications. USDC will be used first for dollar-denominated transactions, and EURC can be used for euro-denominated payments.
Tereina provides infrastructure that links payment functions to enterprise software. Companies can use it to add stablecoin payment functions to the finance systems they currently use. The two companies plan to test stablecoin-based global payments and treasury operations for global clients over the coming months.
According to a joint statement, the SAP ecosystem accounts for 84 percent of global commerce. While that figure does not mean the actual scale of stablecoin adoption, linking with SAP finance systems is expected to provide a channel for companies to use stablecoins in their existing work environments.
The move follows Circle's recent launch of the mainnet for 'Arc', a layer 1 blockchain aimed at stablecoin payments and financial markets. Arc uses USDC for transaction fees and supports more than 20 fiat-pegged stablecoins, including USDC and EURC. Circle is continuing a trend of expanding payment infrastructure and blockchain networks together to broaden enterprise uses for stablecoins.
A market watch point is the pace of adoption after real customer tests. For companies, it is important whether they can handle sending and receiving dollar- and euro-based stablecoins within existing finance software. Attention is on the extent to which stablecoins move into real-world use in global payments and treasury operations.
Circle Tereina Circle and Tereina are partnering to bring USDC and EURC into enterprise payment workflows, beginning with SAP Pay, where Arc serves as the preferred blockchain. For eligible businesses, that means more ways to move and settle value through the applications they already use. https://t.co/juiqgu0jRx
