Security warnings are growing among XRP Ledger users as unidentified projects that ask people to enter private keys become more common.

U.Today, a blockchain media outlet, reported on Oct. 7 that Robert Kiuru, chief operating officer at XRPL Labs and Xaman, warned the XRP community not to share private keys under any circumstances.

The warning came amid a rise in so-called "vibe coding" projects. The approach lets developers build and deploy applications quickly, but users may struggle to verify a developer's identity or security practices, some have pointed out. Some XRPL projects have been reported to demand entry of Xaman wallet private keys during website or app connection processes.

Kiuru called private keys "the key to your kingdom" and said they should be kept private and secure, and not entered anywhere. The remarks carry weight because they are not limited to a single app or specific project. As new decentralised applications continue to emerge across the XRP Ledger ecosystem, basic wallet security rules have become more important, it said.

An X user named Jenna urged caution, saying some XRPL projects with unclear developer information are asking users to enter private keys as a way to connect to websites or apps. Jenna stressed that private keys should never be entered into arbitrary apps, and Kiuru also reacted to the post, raising the level of warning.

These security concerns coincide with a period when the XRP Ledger is set to expand key functions. At the recent "XRP Seoul 2026" event, participants shared that real-world use cases such as risk management, real-world assets (RWA) and on-chain finance are being built on the XRP Ledger. As the ecosystem expands faster, new services and user touchpoints also increase, making security issues more sensitive.

Technology changes are also planned. A "Permission Delegation" function is expected to allow decentralised finance activity to take place directly on the XRP Ledger. Users will be able to borrow XRP from Ethereum liquidity pools, receive RLUSD and then bridge it back to the XRP Ledger. Related vaults are expected to expand across the ledger as well.

Features targeting institutional demand were also highlighted. The XRP Ledger is promoting native compliance and low payment costs as strengths. Fully on-chain transparency has served as a barrier for traditional finance, it said. The XRP Ledger is therefore pursuing the introduction of a zero-knowledge proof (ZKP)-based "Confidential Transfers" function.

Ultimately, as the XRP Ledger's range of use expands, user security rules are becoming more important as well. In an environment where more participants join the ecosystem and new apps appear quickly, warnings are growing that private key management principles should take priority over connection convenience.
