KakaoPay is expanding the countries covered by its international shipping service from 5 to 199 worldwide.
KakaoPay said it will broaden the service to 199 countries from Oct. 1 and run a promotion offering a 20 percent discount on shipping fees through Dec. 31.
KakaoPay launched its international shipping service in January for 5 countries, including the United States, China, Japan, Canada and Australia. It then built logistics operations and shipping infrastructure with international shipping logistics specialist Deleo Korea and expanded the service area to Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Oceania and Africa.
During the promotion period, international shipping users will receive an immediate 20 percent discount on shipping fees. It applies to payments made with KakaoPay Money and cards registered with KakaoPay.
International shipping works by entering sender and recipient information and a representative item to make a reservation. A specialist courier collects the item, while repackaging, inspection and customs clearance are handled. It does not charge separately for pickup, repackaging and inspection.
Users can check estimated costs through KakaoPay's "shipping fee calculator" and track shipping status in real time in the KakaoPay app. They can also view video of the inspection and packing process at the logistics center, and a paid option called "Duddeun Insurance" is also provided to prepare for accidents during delivery.
A KakaoPay official said, "We will reduce the cost burden of international shipping and continue to improve convenience for users."
