Shiba Inu's (SHIB) exchange holdings are nearing 88 trillion tokens, putting a brake on its recent rebound, blockchain media outlet U.Today reported on Sept. 27 local time.

Shiba Inu is showing a short-term bearish signal as deposits on exchanges rise quickly. By CryptoQuant tallies, Shiba Inu's exchange holdings stood at about 87.7938 trillion tokens on Sept. 27. That was up from the previous day. As market participants moved more tokens to multiple exchanges, the amount waiting to be sold is seen as having piled up.

According to the report, tokens flowing into reserves rose across supported exchanges over the past day. U.Today pointed to signs of strengthening selling pressure. As rising exchange holdings are typically linked to an increase in tokens available for sale, it can weigh on short-term supply and demand.

The fact that exchange holdings have moved close to the key 88 trillion-token level is adding to market pressure. The outlet said that range could delay a further price rebound in Shiba Inu for longer. If buying fails to pick up and the amount waiting on exchanges increases, the pace of any price recovery is bound to slow.

Fund flows also pointed in the same direction. Shiba Inu's net exchange inflow over the past 24 hours showed a positive reading of more than 75 billion SHIB. A positive net inflow means more tokens moved onto exchanges than moved off. U.Today viewed this as a sign investors were leaning more toward transfers to exchanges and selling than buying.

Against that backdrop, the price has turned weaker again. Shiba Inu has halted its recent rebound and slipped back into a declining range, trading around $0.000005883. A slowdown in the broader market rally appears to be affecting investor sentiment across meme coins.

The latest shift in indicators has put the focus on whether Shiba Inu can ease short-term supply pressures. If rising exchange holdings and net inflows continue, any further rebound could be limited. If exchange balances fall and buying returns, the recent rebound attempt that stalled could still resume.
