Webzen will stage the first playable demo of a new game using the intellectual property of the webtoon 'Tyrant of the Defense Game' at G-Star in November.
Webzen said on Monday it will unveil a trial version of command strategy RPG 'Tyrant of the Defense Game: Last Stage', being developed by its subsidiary Webzen Crevics, at G-Star 2026.
The on-site demo is expected to run about 15 minutes, including a tutorial. The company is still finalising the content and demo scope to be shown at G-Star.
The game is being developed based on Naver Webtoon 'Tyrant of the Defense Game' and aims to expand the original story universe and character relationships. It will restructure parts of the original story to fit the game and add new character episodes.
The graphics combine an Unreal Engine 5-based 3D environment with what it calls "diorama pixel art". Backgrounds are built in 3D, while characters are produced through hand work at the pixel level.
The game system adapts the original's "exploration-defense battle-territory management" structure to focus on party composition and tactical operations. Deployment varies by character roles such as tankers and damage dealers, and the game also includes elements that let users directly command characters.
Webzen plans to keep developing the game with the goal of releasing it in 2027 after checking user responses through the G-Star demo and then improving gameplay.
