LG HelloVision said on Sunday it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Seoul and Busan Media Centers and with Dongguk University and Dongseo University to foster a youth video creator group called the "Local Editor Crew".
Under the agreement, the organisations will cooperate on producing and spreading regional content from a youth perspective and on industry-academia cooperation linking human and material resources.
The signing ceremonies were held on Sept. 8 at the Busan Media Center and on Sept. 17 at Dongguk University.
Following the agreement, LG HelloVision will operate the "Local Editor Crew" with about 50 students from Dongguk University and Dongseo University.
Participating students will work in teams in Seoul and Busan to uncover local food and places, people and issues, and produce short-form and video content.
The content will be released through LG HelloVision's regional channel and the Instagram magazine "Local Digging", among others. It also plans to provide scholarships to outstanding participants.
LG HelloVision will also provide participating students with content production experience linked to their coursework and mentoring from working professionals.
LG HelloVision executive director Sung-won Lim (임성원) said, "Based on a win-win cooperation model among local communities, industry and academia, we will build a sustainable local content ecosystem and work to spread ESG values in local communities."
