As of 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 18, Bitcoin (BTC) was trading at $77,287, up 1.39 percent from the previous day, according to Coin360. Bitcoin’s market share was 58.22 percent. Ethereum (ETH) rose 1.9 percent to $2,474, and XRP gained 1.95 percent to $1.
Altcoins extended gains from the previous day. Onchain platform NEAR traded at $3, rebounding by more than 40 percent from its weekly low and continuing its rise. Privacy coin Zcash (ZEC) climbed 10.35 percent to $1,499. Hyperliquid token HYPE rose 9.06 percent, while Chainlink (LINK) gained 5.96 percent, Solana (SOL) rose 5.85 percent, Binance Coin (BNB) added 3.64 percent and Monero (XMR) increased 2.64 percent.
Two days ago, the FOMC carried out a surprise rate hike under the leadership of Fed chair Kevin Warsh, but the market is interpreting it as a “one-off measure” and is instead extending a relief rally. As risk-asset aversion eased, major coins led by bitcoin posted gains for a second straight day.
Coin-specific positives also amplified gains. NEAR rebounded by more than 40 percent from its weekly low as expectations for a scheduled protocol upgrade were priced in. Zcash has maintained a double-digit rise as institutional funds have flowed in steadily since Grayscale’s spot ETF “ZCSH” was listed on Aug. 25.
Still, caution remains that volatility could increase again depending on whether the Clarity bill is reintroduced next week and on additional comments from Fed officials.
