Apple has set the out-of-warranty battery replacement fee for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at $129 (about 170,000 won).

According to IT outlet 9to5Mac on Sept. 17 local time, the price is $10 higher than the $119 (about 160,000 won) charged for the iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Apple updated its iPhone support page, "Apple Service and Repair for iPhone," and newly disclosed repair fees for the iPhone 18 Pro series. The increase applies to devices whose warranty has expired. Apple said it inspects a device and then determines the final service fee.

Prices for repair items other than the battery also rose. For the iPhone 18 Pro, rear glass damage costs $159 (about 210,000 won) and rear camera damage $249 (about 340,000 won). Screen damage is priced at $329 (about 450,000 won), while repairing both the screen and rear glass costs $419 (about 570,000 won). Other damage costs $849 (about 1.17 million won).

For the iPhone 18 Pro Max, the battery replacement fee is also $129. Rear glass damage is $159 and rear camera damage is $249. Screen damage is $379 (about 520,000 won), while simultaneous damage to the screen and rear glass is $469 (about 640,000 won). Other damage costs $899 (about 1.24 million won).

Screen-related repair fees are higher for the Pro Max model. Battery, rear glass and rear camera fees are the same for both models. The amount a user actually pays is confirmed after the device’s condition is checked.

The battery replacement fee increase comes alongside a rise in battery capacity for the new Pro models. Apple’s European Union technical specifications list the iPhone 18 Pro battery capacity at 4,056 mAh and the iPhone 18 Pro Max at 5,391 mAh. That is higher than the 3,988 mAh and 4,823 mAh listed for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The disclosure of repair fees serves as a yardstick for maintenance costs after a new product launch. As batteries are components with steady replacement demand the longer a device is used, the increase is likely to directly translate into a heavier burden for users of Pro models whose warranties have expired. Apple also provides a separate official service fee table for models from the iPhone 6 onward.
