[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong (홍진주)] Binance will delist some cross-margin and isolated-margin trading pairs on Sept. 18 (local time). The move covers five cross-margin pairs and one isolated-margin pair.
According to blockchain media outlet U.Today, the cross-margin pairs to be removed are ENJ/USDC, GENIUS/USDC, CVX/USDC, GUN/USDC and VANA/USDC. On isolated margin, GENIUS/USDC will be delisted. Binance plans to close positions for the pairs on Sept. 18, carry out automatic settlement and cancel all open orders.
Binance also implemented immediate measures. Assets related to the pairs can no longer be transferred into isolated-margin accounts by manual or automatic transfer. It will also stop isolated-margin borrowing for GENIUS/USDC from Sept. 16.
It also set a deadline for users. Binance advised users to close positions or move assets from margin accounts to spot accounts before margin trading is halted on Sept. 18. It said the delisting process could take about 3 hours, making it difficult to adjust positions during that time. Binance said the steps are intended to prevent potential losses.
Trading in the assets will not be completely blocked. Binance said the assets can continue to be traded in other supported pairs on Binance Margin even after the delisting. Because the action is at the trading-pair level, it does not remove the assets across the board.
Separately from this notice, Binance decided to end spot trading for the stablecoin Pax Dollar (USDP). Binance said that based on its current review, it will delist all USDP spot trading pairs on Sept. 24 and halt trading.
The end of USDP support will be phased. From Sept. 25, USDP deposits will not be credited to accounts, and from Nov. 24 it will no longer support withdrawals. It also said that after Nov. 25 it may convert delisted USDP into another stablecoin on users' behalf.
As a result, the steps are drawing attention because the margin-pair reduction and the end of stablecoin spot trading are proceeding at the same time. Binance is adjusting the scope of support based on reviews of individual assets and trading pairs, and users must separately check the schedule for closing margin positions and the deadlines for USDP deposits and withdrawals.
