AMD x86 client CPU share tops 30 percent for first time
AMD\'s share of the x86 client CPU market rose above 30 percent for the first time in the second quarter of 2026, with Mercury Research putting it at 30.3 percent. The gain came as overall PC demand remained weak, especially in desktops, where shipments fell 20 percent from a year earlier. AMD\'s desktop share reached 34.9 percent and mobile 28.9 percent. Arm-based client CPUs were estimated at 15.3 percent.

Nvidia unveils four new products ahead of earnings, focusing on token generation speed
Nvidia unveiled new AI inference accelerators and network infrastructure products at Hot Chips 2026 in the United States on Aug. 25, a day before its second-quarter earnings. The company said interactive inference accelerator Nvidia Grok 3 LPX has entered mass production, alongside Spectrum-X Multiplane Ethernet scaling and ScaleIn infrastructure acceleration technology. The announcements focused on inference, particularly token generation speed, and also highlighted inference speed, network scalability and agent-focused CPUs within the Vera Rubin platform.

Clika selected for Singapore-France defence AI technology cooperation programme
Clika, a company specialising in lightweight artificial intelligence model optimisation, said on Aug. 10 it was selected as the sole final winner in the global defence AI technology cooperation programme AI Joint Challenge. The programme is jointly organised by Singapore agencies Cap Vista and FSTD and France’s AMIAD. The challenge seeks AI technologies for operational tasks and converts them into pilot projects. Clika was chosen for AI optimisation enabling deployment under SWaP constraints without performance loss.
