Naver to end \'related search terms\' after 19 years, replace with AI search
Naver will end its related search terms service on April 30, closing a feature introduced in 2007. The company said the function has increasingly overlapped with expanded AI-based search services. Related search terms displayed likely accompanying queries at the top of integrated search results. Naver previously scrapped person-name related terms in March 2020 after repeated issues involving defamation, privacy violations and malicious election-period keywords.

Naver, Kakao enter AI agent monetisation race after record results
Naver and Kakao posted their best-ever results last year and are stepping up competition this year to monetise generative AI through agent services. Naver plans to expand its AI Briefing and roll out vertical agents starting with shopping, linking AI search to purchases and reservations. Kakao is focusing on on-device AI in KakaoTalk, expanding commerce contexts and partnerships with Google and OpenAI. Both aim to tie longer user engagement and commerce agents to ad revenue growth.

Naver AI search spurs over half of 2025 ad growth
Naver\'s AI search has grown rapidly eight months after launch, becoming a key driver of advertising growth as user search behavior shifts. Naver said AI contributed 55 percent of its 8.8 percent platform advertising revenue growth in 2025. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 10.7 percent to 31.951 trillion won and operating profit increased 12.7 percent to 610.6 billion won. The company plans to double the scope of AI Briefing by year-end.
