U.S. SEC considers allowing trading of stock tokens without listing company consent, innovation exemption near release

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is preparing a new framework that could allow third parties to issue and trade U.S. stock-based tokens without the issuing company’s consent, a report said. The SEC may announce an “Innovation Exemption” as early as this week. Under the plan, tokens must provide the same economic rights as existing shares, including voting rights and dividends, potentially enabling securities trading on blockchain-based DeFi platforms.

FSC begins designing tokenised securities market structure, reviews trading limits and licensing requirements

South Korea\'s Financial Services Commission is accelerating detailed rule design for tokenised securities ahead of the制度\'s rollout. It held a second public-private meeting on May 15 to discuss frameworks for issuance, distribution and infrastructure, and reviewed issues tied to planned July revisions to subordinate regulations and guidelines. The group discussed eligibility of underlying assets, possible permission for bundled assets in limited cases, and preparations for broader tokenisation. It also debated OTC exchange licensing, dual-business scope and trading limits.

Koscom partners with Woori Investment Securities on tokenised securities platform

Koscom said on May 13 it has signed a partnership with Woori Investment Securities on digital assets and tokenised securities (STO). The two companies plan to build a cooperation framework to advance the tokenised securities business based on blockchain technology and financial investment capabilities. Koscom said it has expanded its STO-related base through projects including an issuance platform with LG CNS, a Korea Securities Depository testbed, stablecoin-based atomic settlement proof-of-concept work and participation in the Korea Exchange-backed KDX consortium.
