KakaoPay says 100,000 won most common Lunar New Year gift money for middle-high school students
KakaoPay said data from its Lunar New Year remittance envelopes showed that 100,000 won was the most common amount received by middle and high school students as gift money in 2025. A user survey found gift money and related holiday expenses were the most burdensome factor. KakaoPay also said users in their 20s to 40s sent an average of 227,000 won in holiday allowance to their parents’ generation.
