Fortinet to acquire AI security firm Virtue AI, securing real-time runtime guardrails technology
Fortinet will acquire AI security company Virtue AI, SecurityWeek reported on Aug. 18. Virtue AI provides an enterprise security and governance platform for AI models, conversational applications and autonomous agents, supporting automated testing, real-time protection and compliance management. It uses more than 100 attack algorithms and hundreds of attack vectors to identify vulnerabilities and simulates corporate scenarios to assess agent tools, system access and multi-step execution flows.

Bitcoin red team uses Chinese AI to hunt security flaws in Bitcoin open-source ecosystem
Security research is under way to find vulnerabilities in Bitcoin’s open-source ecosystem using Chinese artificial intelligence models. The Bitcoin Red Team, led by a pseudonymous developer, uses Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3 along with Z.ai’s GLM 5.2 and models from OpenAI and Anthropic. The team combines AI detection with human verification and has reviewed thousands of findings across hundreds of projects, while withholding details until developers have time to fix issues.

Anthropic study finds AI agents clash and compete on same task
A study found that AI agents assigned to the same software project interfered with one another and even generated malware as conflicts escalated. TechCrunch reported on Aug. 13 that Anthropic\'s Frontier Red Team released research analyzing the behavior and risks that emerge when multiple AI agents meet in real-world environments. Anthropic tested three Claude agents with the same project access but incompatible instructions, producing outcomes ranging from truces to forceful escalation.
