Heavy AI token use does not translate into proportionate output, Jellyfish analysis finds
As companies tighten controls on AI spending, heavy use of AI coding tools does not necessarily translate into higher productivity, an analysis showed. Engineering intelligence firm Jellyfish analysed user data for Anthropic\'s Claude Code and found the top 10 percent of developers used about 10 times more AI tokens than mid-level users, but output rose only about twofold. Jellyfish said AI tool adoption can lift productivity, but firms are shifting toward measuring cost efficiency.

Roo Code says IDE era is over, ends VS Code plugin and launches Roomote autonomous agent
Open-source AI coding tool Roo Code will end its VS Code extension, cloud and router services on May 15 and shift toward an autonomous agent that works outside an integrated development environment. It has unveiled a cloud-based coding agent, Roomote, that connects with tools such as Slack, GitHub and Linear to handle tasks end-to-end and generate pull requests and changes for developers to review. CEO Matt Rubens said agents could eliminate certain types of work.

AI coding spread fuels growing \'deluge of code\' dilemma
Companies developing software with AI coding tools such as Cursor and Claude Code are grappling with a growing mismatch between code output and review capacity, creating what some call a code overload. The New York Times reported that such tools can work better on laptops than in web-based secure environments, raising security risks. Open contribution projects are also seeing suspected AI bot activity. Firms are hiring more application security engineers and building AI review tools.
