PIPC launches Daegu Digital Innovation Agency\'s Personal Data Innovation Zone operations

South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission said it will begin full operation of the Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency\'s Personal Data Innovation Zone from Oct. 23. The commission said the zone is designed to enhance the safety of data processing environments and support more flexible use of pseudonymised data. Introduced in 2024, it aims to provide a basis for researchers and companies to use data more safely. Ten institutions have been designated as operators.

Koscom designated as one-stop support center for pseudonymised data

Koscom has been designated by South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission as the operator of a one-stop support center for pseudonymised data, it said on Tuesday. The company will carry out pseudonymisation through specialised data staff and verify results through an independent review system to reduce public institutions\' legal and operational burdens. It plans to link with related support schemes as new regulations are set to take effect in September.
