Koscom designated as one-stop support center for pseudonymised data
Koscom has been designated by South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission as the operator of a one-stop support center for pseudonymised data, it said on Tuesday. The company will carry out pseudonymisation through specialised data staff and verify results through an independent review system to reduce public institutions\' legal and operational burdens. It plans to link with related support schemes as new regulations are set to take effect in September.

MSIT designates 3 regulatory exemptions under special zone sandbox
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on April 12 it designated three regulatory exemptions for new technologies under the R&D Special Zone regulatory sandbox after holding the 58th R&D Special Zone Committee meeting on April 10. The exemptions cover a DTC gene-test-based dog identification and registration pilot, activated carbon made from recycled waste-plastic pyrolysis residues, and an AI prediction-based autonomous transport robot using original video data under required safety measures.

MSIT to push AI-based research administration on IRIS, offer researcher recommendation service
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on March 11 it has secured grounds to 추진 AI-based research administration support services through a help desk run by the Personal Information Protection Commission to review privacy issues in public-sector AI transformation projects. The commission approved a prior adequacy review for IRIS AI recommendation services for evaluators and collaborative researchers, and prepared safeguards with the ministry to reduce privacy risks.
