PIPC holds briefing on guidelines for writing privacy policies, shares revisions

South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission held a briefing on April 28 to share key points of the revised guidelines for writing privacy policies it released on April 24. The commission also provided guidance on updated privacy policy guidelines, standards for handling pseudonymised data and personal data processing in generative AI services. It said the event focused on helping people better understand how their data is handled and supporting on-site application of the new standards.

South Korea privacy watchdog sanctions 3 firms, including Duo, for failing data security measures

South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission held its seventh plenary meeting on April 22 and decided to sanction three companies for violating personal data protection rules. It imposed a total of 4.79 billion won in penalty surcharges and 17.4 million won in administrative fines, and ordered corrective measures and public disclosure. The sanctioned firms were KS Korea Employment Information, Duo Information and Geumneung Park Cemetery, which suffered data leaks after inadequate security and processed resident registration numbers without legal grounds.

Seven recommended Mac apps for MacBook Neo first-time users

New MacBook Neo users may want to add third-party apps to expand productivity beyond default tools. TechRadar on April 16 recommended seven Mac apps focused on document work, scheduling, web browsing, app maintenance, audio control, video calls and video playback. The list includes Microsoft 365, Flexibits\' Fantastical, Chrome or Firefox with privacy add-ons, Nektony\'s App Cleaner & Uninstaller, SoundSource, Zoom and VLC.
