Ku Hyeok-chae visits IBS to discuss steps to boost quantum competitiveness

Ku Hyeok-chae (구혁채), first vice minister at the Ministry of Science and ICT, visited the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) on Tuesday and held a meeting with researchers at its 2D quantum heterostructure research group. The trip was the 12th stop under Project Empathy 118 and aimed at shaping directions for fostering basic quantum science under a newly announced national plan. Researchers discussed talent development, materials self-reliance and stronger industry-academia-research cooperation.

When will Samsung Galaxy get solid-state batteries? Technology status and launch outlook

No Galaxy smartphone has appeared with a solid-state battery, despite earlier expectations. Signals emerged in 2017, but there was no clear progress for years. Samsung Electro-Mechanics said in September 2024 it developed a small solid-state battery for wearables and aims for mass production by end-2026. Silicon-carbon batteries are evolving faster, with Honor using them in recent phones. Industry speculation points to wearable prototypes at MWC 2026 and possible smartphone use later.
