Who drives the stablecoin market: Issuance by Circle, distribution by Coinbase
Institutional finance payment infrastructure is shifting from correspondent banking-led structures to stablecoin networks, with key functions concentrated among a handful of firms. Stablecoin market capitalisation rose to $317.89 billion in April 2026 from about $125 billion in early 2024, while 2025 transfer volume reached $33 trillion. USDC led institutional payments. Shinhan Investment & Securities said in a report on Tuesday that Hecto Group, centered on Hecto Innovation, is in the mainstream of global stablecoins and has secured a favorable business environment aligned with market trends. The report cited key factors including global networks, traditional finance experience, and regulatory readiness. It said Hecto Financial has a leading position in stablecoin payment and settlement infrastructure and joined Circle\'s CPN as an official partner. It also highlighted Hecto Wallet One\'s VASP-based wallet infrastructure.

South Korea posts record $123.1 billion current account surplus in 2025 on strong exports
South Korea recorded its largest-ever current account surplus in 2025, supported by strong exports such as semiconductors and increased dividend income from overseas investments. Preliminary Bank of Korea data showed the December current account surplus was $18.7 billion, the highest on a monthly basis. The annual surplus reached $123.05 billion, exceeding the previous record set in 2015 and topping the central bank’s November forecast.
