Musk built empire on clean energy but xAI data centers run on natural gas

Tesla’s master plans centred on electrifying the economy, but Musk-led xAI runs data centres on dozens of unregulated natural gas turbines and plans additional purchases. The filings also describe cross-company spending, a focus on space-based solar power and assumptions of terawatt-scale AI computing growth.

TSMC to buy all power from Taiwan Hai Long offshore wind project for 30 years
TSMC has agreed to buy all electricity generated by the Hai Long offshore wind project in the Taiwan Strait for 30 years, as AI chip demand drives rapid growth in power use. The agreement covers 100 percent of output from three offshore wind farms off Taiwan’s west coast, with capacity exceeding 1 gigawatt. The project is set for full operations in 2027. The move comes as Taiwan weighs energy security risks and accelerates renewables development.
