Kakao posts record first-quarter operating profit, signals shift to agentic AI
Kakao posted record first-quarter revenue and operating profit on growth in key businesses including its platform unit and cost efficiency. The company reported first-quarter revenue of 1.94 trillion won and operating profit of 211.4 billion won, up 11 percent and 66 percent from a year earlier. Platform revenue rose 16 percent, while content revenue grew 5 percent. Kakao said it will accelerate a shift to an agentic AI platform.

Alert over unclear, overhyped apps spreading on official app stores
AhnLab said on Tuesday it found many apps on official app stores that disguise themselves as providing practical information but expose users to excessive advertising. The firm said the apps lure users with topics such as government policies and subsidies, IPOs and loans, then repeatedly show ads during use. Some positive reviews appear to use repeated wording and may have been artificially written using stolen accounts. AhnLab warned the apps could easily add malicious functions.

Naver introduces new integrated ad platform to unify search and display ads
Naver said on Tuesday it will introduce a new advertising platform. The company integrated search ads and display ads, which previously operated on separate systems, into a single platform. The new platform offers a dashboard showing campaign performance and key indicators on one screen, with detailed data by day of the week, time period and conversion type. It also introduces attribution conversion metrics, period comparison tools and a beta AI-based insights feature.
