Daishin Securities, Bithumb and Mirae Asset hit by hacking, security alert for financial investment industry

A series of hacking incidents has hit South Korea\'s financial investment industry, with Daishin Securities reporting a leak of personal credit information for 38,490 customers. Mirae Asset Global Investments is checking the scope and circumstances of an external hacking attack after signs of unauthorized access. Bithumb said abnormal access by an outside party to its internal mobile groupware system led to a personal data leak, mainly involving employee information so far.

Daishin Securities data of 38,490 customers leaked; no signs of secondary damage

Daishin Securities said the personal and credit information of 38,490 customers was leaked, but no signs of secondary damage have been found so far. The breach was confirmed after abnormal access was detected on Oct. 17 on a server linked to non-face-to-face discretionary account opening. The firm blocked related IP addresses, reported the matter to regulators and investigated with the Financial Security Institute. It will notify customers and respond if damage is confirmed.

Korea Investment Trust Management lists first joint ETF with CUAM HK in Hong Kong

Korea Investment Trust Management has listed its first jointly developed exchange-traded fund with China Universal Asset Management\'s Hong Kong unit, CUAM HK, on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The CUAM Solactive China & Global Semiconductor ETF tracks a Solactive index and invests across 30 semiconductor and related technology companies, including global firms and China and Hong Kong tech companies. The partners plan to use the ETF Connect scheme and pursue further joint ETFs.
