Nvidia talks with OpenAI on $250 billion guarantee for Ohio data centre

Nvidia is discussing providing about $250 billion in payment guarantees for a large data centre project for OpenAI, the Wall Street Journal reported. The guarantee would support OpenAI leasing a 10-gigawatt project being developed in southern Ohio by an energy unit of SoftBank, the report said. Including chips, the overall cost could exceed $500 billion. The U.S. government would control the power, with Japan funding under a recent trade agreement.

LG Electronics cooling distribution unit wins Nvidia quality certification, first in Korea

LG Electronics said it has obtained final quality certification from Nvidia for its 600-kW coolant distribution unit (CDU) for AI data centres, the first South Korean company to do so. The CDU circulates coolant to cold plates attached to GPUs and CPUs to absorb heat. The company said it will expand Nvidia certification across higher-capacity CDU models and broaden its data-centre thermal management portfolio from chillers to cold plates.

Naver forms $10 billion AI infrastructure alliance with Nvidia and Brookfield

Naver said on July 27 it secured a $1 billion strategic investment from Nvidia and signed a $9 billion infrastructure pre-agreement with alternative asset manager Brookfield. It said the deals would provide $10 billion in global funding and partnerships, helping address GPU supply and equipment procurement. Nvidia will acquire a 4.5% stake. Naver also plans to enter AI factory revenue from 2027 and scale capacity from 55 MW to 200 MW and then 1 GW.
