Bill Gates warns many jobs will disappear forever as he backs away from AI optimism
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates (빌 게이츠) has stepped back from his earlier optimism on artificial intelligence, warning that the world is unprepared for its spread and that many jobs could disappear permanently. In an essay, he flagged rising inequality and a global governance vacuum as key risks. Gates proposed taxing AI tokens and robots to slow automation and fund retraining and safety nets, and designating some roles as human-only. He also urged new domestic and international AI governance bodies.

Anthropic to roll out latest AI models on AWS Seoul region, step up push into South Korean finance
Anthropic plans to soon introduce its latest large language models, including Sonnet 5 and Opus 5, on Amazon Web Services\' Seoul region and accelerate its push into South Korea\'s enterprise market. The company is also working with AWS to expand adoption in the domestic financial sector. Anthropic Korea head Choi Ki-young said local availability would better meet data sovereignty requirements, broaden use cases for regulated industries and ease concerns about data leaving the country during inference.

MegazoneCloud, KISTI co-host quantum computing hackathon to seek solutions to industry challenges
MegazoneCloud and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information co-hosted the finals of the Quantum Reframing Challenge 2026 quantum computing hackathon on Aug. 26. The grand prize went to Quanskkuad, a team of three Sungkyunkwan University students, for analyzing copper catalyst efficiency in converting carbon dioxide to ethylene. The event drew 214 participants from 73 teams, including students, researchers and industry workers.
