Woowa Youth names former Sejong deputy mayor Kwon Oh-jung as new CEO
Woowa Youth has named former Sejong Special Self-Governing City deputy mayor Kwon Oh-jung as its next chief executive. Kim Yong-seok, who has served concurrently as Woowa Youth CEO since August last year, will step down and keep only his role as head of Woowa Brothers\' external communications centre. Kwon, born in 1968, has worked at the presidential office, the prime minister\'s office and local governments.

Government pushes worker presumption rule, platform industry on alert
The government is pushing to revise the Labour Standards Act to introduce a “worker presumption rule” from May 1, prompting concern across platform industries. The change would shift the burden of proof from special employment workers and freelancers to businesses, which would have to show independent operations and lack of direction or supervision. Delivery platforms foresee higher labour costs and reduced hiring. Content and staffing intermediaries also expect disputes over proof and legal responsibility.

Baemin holds Festa Awards rider ceremony, invites about 350
Woowa Brothers, operator of South Korean delivery app Baedal Minjok, and logistics unit Woowa Youth held the 2025 Baemin Rider Festa Awards on Jan. 15 at Baemin Rider School in Hanam, Gyeonggi province. The company said about 350 riders and family members attended the industry’s first offline awards event. Awards were presented in seven categories to about 30 riders and partners, with trophies, prize money and a Honda PCX125 among the prizes.
