Wireless controller history goes back more than 40 years, starting with Atari
The history of wireless controllers, now standard gaming hardware, dates back more than 40 years. Early examples include Cynex\'s Game Mate2 from around 1982, which worked with the Atari 2600 using radio frequency signals. A major turning point came in 2002 with Nintendo\'s WaveBird for the GameCube, improving range and battery life. Sony adopted wireless controllers with the PS3 Sixaxis in 2006, later restoring vibration with the DualShock 3 in 2008.
