Google Veo adds personal AI avatars from selfies and voice

Google has added a personal AI avatar feature to its video creation tool Veo, allowing users to generate customised digital avatars that reflect their face and voice. Users can upload a selfie and a voice recording to insert the avatar into videos. Google also applied its multimodal AI model Gemini Omni to Veo, supporting text prompts and reference images, background replacement and lighting correction. Editing now allows step-by-step changes without recreating a video.

Google unveils \'Gemini Omni\' to generate video from text, images and audio

Google unveiled Gemini Omni, a multimodal AI model that understands images, audio, video and text and generates video. Google introduced Gemini Omni Flash at its annual Google I/O developer conference and applied it first to the Gemini app, YouTube Shorts and the AI creation tool Flow. The model supports photo editing via natural-language commands and video generation using a user’s digital avatar, with registration required. All generated videos include Google’s SynthID watermark.

Reka AI seeks to expand world model and robotics business with Moonvalley acquisition

Reka AI, an AI video app developer, has acquired video generation AI model startup Moonvalley through an all-share exchange. The Information, citing two people familiar with the matter, reported that Toronto-based Moonvalley was founded in 2023 and offers video generation models trained on licensed data to avoid copyright infringement. Reka AI plans to use the acquisition to expand into world models and robotics, it said.
