Google unveils Universal Cart AI shopping tool that carries purchases through checkout
Google has unveiled an AI shopping tool called Universal Cart that brings multiple retailers into a single experience centered on Search and Gemini. Items found through search or chat can be saved to a Google cart and taken through checkout. The feature supports price tracking, price history and restock alerts, and can warn about incompatible purchases. Google Pay can link memberships and cards and suggest ways to save, while purchases can also be completed on retailers’ sites. Google is expanding AI-driven direct purchasing with approval and records.

Google Pay adds installment payments to AI shopping with Affirm, Klarna integration
Google has added installment payment options from Affirm and Klarna to Google Pay. Users can choose pay-later installments on the payment screen through dedicated buttons, running on Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol-based platform. Klarna and Google said the move reflects shopping shifting toward conversational, AI-based environments and highlights the importance of secure, trusted payment options. Google did not disclose rollout countries, partner expansion plans or fee structures.

Circle CEO says AI agents and stablecoins will change world within 5 years
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire says stablecoins have no realistic alternative for AI agents to take part in economic activity. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he says billions of AI agents will appear within 3 to 5 years and that combining AI with stablecoins will become a key pillar of the global financial system. He says legacy finance cannot match AI speed and scale, while stablecoins can enable automated, cross-border, 24-hour payments.
