U.S. Army turns to rapid, low-cost modular laser weapon to defend against drones

The U.S. Army is shifting from dedicated laser-weapon vehicles to modular lasers that can be mounted on standard trucks, with AeroVironment securing an initial low-rate production contract for its 30-kilowatt LOCUST X3.
