DoorDash CEO says AI agent orders are only in the hundreds, app orders still mainstream

DoorDash has received only a few hundred orders via external AI agents, TechCrunch reported, citing comments made during the company’s third-quarter results call. CEO Tony Xu said agent-based ordering remains a fast-changing area and warned against misconceptions, even as the company does not intend to resist the technology trend. DoorDash to buy Instacart for $17 billion

DoorDash has agreed to acquire grocery-delivery specialist Instacart for $17 billion, TechCrunch reported on Wednesday. Both companies’ boards approved the deal, under which DoorDash will pay $65 per Instacart share. DoorDash plans to keep Instacart’s brand, enterprise technology products and app. The companies will continue to operate independently until the transaction closes, which is expected by late 2027 or the first half of 2028.
