AI adoption spreads as digital divide widens, DeepSeek gains
Microsoft think tank The AI Economy Institute released a report on AI adoption in the second half of 2025, showing global generative AI adoption rose 1.2 percentage points to 16.3 percent. It found a widening gap between advanced and emerging regions tied to early infrastructure investment. The report said South Korea’s rank jumped to 18th with rapid growth, and highlighted open-source platform DeepSeek as lowering barriers in emerging markets.
