FLIT unveils 13.3-kg ultralight folding e-bike M2i, lighter and half the price of Brompton

UK folding e-bike maker FLIT unveiled its new M2i model weighing 13.3 kg, trimming weight while keeping a folding design and riding convenience. The M2i is about 500 grams lighter than Brompton’s Electric T Line and is priced at 2,999 pounds, far below Brompton’s 5,799 pounds. FLIT said it reduced weight through a custom aluminium frame and structural adhesive process, plus lighter components, while retaining practical features for commuting and public transport.

Microsoft pushes to produce 300,000 in-house AI chips next year, in talks with TSMC

Microsoft aims to sharply increase production of its next-generation in-house AI chips next year to win large customers such as Anthropic, The Information reported, citing two people familiar with the matter. The company plans to unveil the new Maia300 chip this autumn, possibly as soon as next month, and is negotiating with TSMC to secure 2027 capacity of more than 300,000 chips. It ultimately wants capacity above 1 million chips, but may face constraints.

Google overhauls AI leadership as Demis Hassabis and Jeff Dean step aside

Google has reshuffled key leadership in its artificial intelligence organisation, moving DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis to an Alphabet chief scientist role focused on long-term AI research and changing the position of senior engineering leader Jeff Dean. Industry figures called the moves a signal that Google wants to unify its AI strategy and simplify organisation and resource allocation, while others raised concerns about DeepMind’s independence and safety emphasis.
