Chip equipment makers step up test chip competition as proof demands rise
Semiconductor equipment makers are reinforcing test chip capabilities as chipmakers increasingly require pre-validated solutions for advanced processes. With the cost of halting production lines rising for sub-2-nanometre nodes, chipmakers are reluctant to test new tools and materials on their own fabs. Applied Materials is expanding test chip teams and global R&D infrastructure, including a META Center in New York. Samsung Electronics is also working with key customers on PPA evaluations and test chip collaboration.

Tem raises $75 million to expand AI-based electricity trading platform
AI-based electricity trading platform Tem has raised $75 million in a Series B funding round, TechCrunch reported on Monday. Lightspeed Venture Partners, AlbionVC, Atomico and Hitachi Ventures participated. Tem operates a marketplace that connects electricity producers and consumers. It focuses on lowering electricity bills by reducing brokerage costs through its AI-based trading engine, Rosso, Chief Executive Joe McDonald said.

TmaxSoft declares shift to global AI business platform company
TmaxSoft said on Monday it held a companywide business strategy workshop at its headquarters in Seongnam to share management goals and plans for the new year. Chief Executive Lee Hyeong-yong urged staff to focus on developing global-oriented AI and cloud-native products and to execute newly set strategies. The company plans a profitability-based mid- to long-term strategy, a shift to a global AI business platform firm, and development of products under a Continuum AI brand.
