Korea commission steps up response to false manipulated information, boosts platform accountability

South Korea\'s Broadcasting Media and Communications Commission plans to upgrade its response system to false and manipulated information under a revised information network law. It will push to strengthen accountability for large platforms and seek to set up a transparency centre to support fact-checking. CJ ENM to set up joint venture with Japan\'s TBS, U-NEXT HD to target global content market

CJ ENM said on Thursday it will set up a joint venture, StudioMonowa, with Japan\'s TBS and U-NEXT Holdings to target the global content market. It plans to build a content value chain spanning planning and development, production, distribution and IP expansion. The venture aims to secure sustainable revenue through an LTV-based structure, including original IP discovery and investment, drama production, global distribution and secondary works.

Broadcast Media Communications Commission grants conditional renewal to 17 radio stations including KBS, MBC Gyeongnam and TBS

South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Commission approved conditional renewals for 17 radio stations run by three broadcasters, setting licence validity at three years. The stations include 14 operated by KBS, two by MBC Gyeongnam and TBS Traffic FM. The commission said the stations previously scored below 650 points in renewal evaluations and underwent hearings under administrative procedures. It set broadcaster-specific conditions and said it may cancel renewals if conditions are not fulfilled.
