Samsung SDI secures standalone North America plant by buying GM stake
Samsung SDI has overhauled its partnership structure with General Motors to respond to changes in the North American market. It signed a joint development agreement with GM to jointly develop next-generation prismatic batteries for electric vehicles and will buy GM\'s entire 49.99 percent stake in the SynergyCells joint venture. Once the stake purchase is completed, Samsung SDI will have its first standalone battery plant in North America.
