Reddit posts strong first-quarter results; revenue up 69 percent, net profit surges
Reddit topped market expectations for first-quarter revenue and net profit and issued an upbeat outlook for the second quarter. Revenue rose 69 percent to $692 million, while net profit climbed to $204 million. Earnings per share increased to $1.01. The company forecast second-quarter revenue of $715 million to $725 million and adjusted profit above estimates. Daily active unique users rose 17 percent to 126.8 million.

Reddit introduces \'human verification\' system to block AI bots
Reddit is introducing a system that requires suspected accounts to undergo “human verification” to curb the spread of AI bots. The measure will not apply sitewide and will be triggered only when activity patterns indicate possible automation. Reddit will detect bots by analysing account activity and technical indicators, and accounts that fail verification will be restricted. Posts written using AI are not banned, and communities can set their own rules.

Reddit is testing a new AI-powered shopping search feature that matches products based on community recommendations, TechCrunch reported on Feb. 19. Some users in the United States will get early access. Search results show an interactive carousel with prices, images and purchase links, and clicking a product connects users directly to details and where to buy it. Reddit said it is designed to keep the community-centered experience while providing instant product information.
