Reddit is rolling out a new AI-powered shopping search feature, TechCrunch reported on Feb. 19.

The feature matches products based on community recommendations. Some users in the United States will be able to try it first. Search results display an interactive carousel with prices, images and purchase links. When users click a product, they are taken directly to details and where to buy it.

The shopping search feature builds on the Dynamic Product Ads (DPA) Reddit launched last year. When a user enters queries such as "noise-cancelling headphone recommendations" or "electronics gift for a college student", products mentioned in related community posts are automatically suggested. Reddit said, "This feature was designed to provide users with instant product information while maintaining a community-centered experience."

Reddit is strengthening shopping features like Instagram and TikTok, while expanding AI-powered commerce features. Reddit CEO Steve Huffman (스티브 허프먼) said in a recent earnings announcement that AI search engines would be a new revenue source. He said weekly active users of its search feature rose to 80 million from 60 million in a year.
