OpenAI announced \'Stargate UK\' without site visit, records show zero visits to key location

OpenAI\'s UK AI data centre project, dubbed Stargate UK, was announced without any on-site inspection of key candidate locations, according to UK disclosure materials. Only Nvidia visited Cobalt Park, a proposed site in North Tyneside, while OpenAI and partner Nscale had no confirmed visit records. Doubts have also emerged over the British government\'s 30 billion pound investment plan, with reports saying much of it reflected estimates rather than confirmed funding.

GE Vernova gas turbines sold out through 2029 amid surging AI power demand

Surging power demand from the expansion of AI data centres is boosting the U.S. power-generation equipment market. GE Vernova, one of the world’s largest gas turbine makers, says orders for large gas turbines are effectively filled through 2029. Major hyperscalers are expanding adoption of industrial turbines to secure reliable electricity as grid connections face delays. GE Vernova is increasing production capacity and hiring in South Carolina.
