Commercial security services based on advanced AI models spread
Moves by the security industry are accelerating to offer commercial services that use large language models to help public and private organisations detect software vulnerabilities. IBM and OpenAI unveiled an enterprise AI security service, while SoftBank Group launched a product based on OpenAI models. OpenAI updated GPT-5.5-Cyber and expanded partner programmes. Sparrow launches MCP-based AI-generated code security assistant
Application security company Sparrow on Tuesday launched an AI-generated code security assistant, Sparrow MCP, designed to help AI models produce secure code. The company said it will push an MCP (Model Context Protocol)-based application security business as AI-driven development expands. Sparrow said its tool links AI coding agents to its security solutions to analyze source code and open-source components as code is generated, providing license and vulnerability information and producing an SBOM.

AI-focused M&A gains pace as big cloud firms step up security expansion
M&A activity is picking up as the security industry reshapes around AI. Databricks is acquiring AI-based cyberattack detection startup Panther Labs, its third cybersecurity deal this year after Antimatter and SiftD. Identity security firm SailPoint Technologies is buying AI agent security startup Entro Security. Big cloud providers are also moving faster on security, with AWS launching an AI platform and Google Cloud supporting local data residency in its Seoul region.
