Processor core design shifts as 2-nm-based high-performance big-core hybrids surge
Mobile and PC processor core design is shifting away from big.LITTLE architectures that relied on low-power little cores, toward hybrid designs built around high-performance big cores. Samsung Electronics’ Exynos 2600 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite adopt only mid and high-performance cores. The change is supported by improved power efficiency from 2-nm GAA processes and by heavier workloads such as Android background tasks and on-device AI, pushing demand for more efficient handling of medium workloads.
